What is the Election Platform?
Itβs a brand new democratic, yet revolutionary voting system, through
which everybody can vote for the people he knows or trust, and easily become
a candidate himself. Election Platform provides an easy-to-use, transparent, and
universal method to elect a team leader in your group or professional community,
and even perform presidential elections. Everyone is welcomed to initiate and perform
election campaigns, simply by inviting his friends to the voting; this can be done
by sending e-mail invitations, choosing from Facebook list of friends or from the
list of Election Platform registered members. Promote your friends and become a
winner yourself!
-
Which is the difference between Classic Democracy and the Election Platform one?
Under a Classic Democracy the winner is the person who gets the majority of votes,
but this model doesn't necessarily ensure that the majority elects the best candidate,
due to a number of limitations that are being applied. At Election Platform we see
the Democracy differently. Here are no limitations to the voting age, citizenship
and race. In addition to that, the number of candidates you actually vote for is
not restricted to only one, which, for example, is to cope with the situation when
you are uncertain which candidate to vote for, but you'd rather prefer giving your
vote to 2 candidates of 10. Election Platform also allows you to change your voting
decision anytime before the election is closed. Finally, the winner is elected taking
into account both the number of votes and the authority (weight) of the electors.
A deeper overview on the way the authority and the winner are determined is given
under Question 6.
-
Is my vote secret?
Yes, absolutely. We are committed to our
Privacy Policy,
which is to ensure the complete security of the data provided by you.
-
Can I have several accounts on Election Platform?
No, this is prohibited. It is done in order to reduce confusion and duplicity of
names.
-
What does Vote Period mean?
It is the period during which the members of the election are able to join and cast
their votes; upon the expiry of this period follows the winner announcement. The
vote period is defined for each election in particular by the person initiating
it.
-
How is the winner computed?
Election Platform voting system relies on an extremely effective way to find out
the winner in an election. Besides considering the number of votes a certain person
accumulates, it takes into account also the authority (weight) of the electors,
by analyzing the votes they got at their turn. Votes cast by people that are themselves
"important" weigh more heavily and help to make other people "important." This can
be illustrated with the following trivial example: consider an election and 5 people
("A", "B", "C", "D" and "E") who vote as follows:
"A" -> "B"
"C" -> "D"
"E" -> "A"
"B" and "D" abstain from voting.
Though "A", "B", and "D" got per one vote, person "B" is to be the winner. That
is because "B" was voted by "A", and "A" is considered "important" comparing to
"C" and "E".
-
Can I vote for myself?
Sorry, you can't. But we encourage you to invite your friends to join same election(s),
and if you deserve being voted for, then surely you'll be.
-
When is the winner announced?
The name of the winner is announced immediately after the voting period ends, next
to which the election is closed.
-
